Any organism originates from the union of father's seed (Venus) and mother's field (Raj). Therefore, in the children, the qualities of both parents are found in the religion.
At the time of birth, the presence of a father is ever present, there is an absence, but the mother gives birth, so the mother is more with her, consequently the children learn much more from the mother. That is the reason that the mother is the first of her family life. The school has been called. Therefore, mother is called the first guru. After that, father or other family members or other gurus, from childhood to the last moment of life, give the devotee the temporal or transcendent education and called the guru, through which the life of a person is ignorant Darkness ends.
So parents and Guru Brahma, like Vishnu and Shiva, are great.

गुरु गोविन्द दोऊ खड़े, काको लागूँ पाय।
बलिहारी गुरु आपनो, गोविन्द दियो बताय।।
किसी भी जीव की उत्पत्ति पिता के बीज (शुक्र) तथा माता के क्षेत्र (रज) के मिलन से होता है। अतः सन्तान में माता-पिता दोनों का गुण धर्म पाया जाता है।
जन्म के समय पिता की उपस्थिति कभी होती है, तो कभी अनुपस्थिति भी रहती है,लेकिन माँ तो जन्म देती है,अतः माँ का साथ अधिक रहता है, फलस्वरूप बच्चे माँ से बहुत अधिक सीखते हैं।यही कारण कि माँ को पारिवारिक जीवन की प्रथम पाठशाला कहा गया है। अतः माँ को ही प्रथम गुरु कहा गया है।उसके बाद पिता या परिवार के अन्य सदस्य या अन्य गुरु जन बचपन से जीवन के अन्तिम क्षण तक में प्राणी को लौकिक या पारलौकिक शिक्षा देते हैं और गुरु कहलाते हैं, जिससे प्राणी के जीवन में अज्ञान का अन्धकार समाप्त हो जाता है।
अतः माता-पिता और गुरु ब्रह्मा, विष्णु एवं शिव के समान महान हैं।
श्री गणेश जी ने माता-पिता की परिक्रमा किया फलस्वरूप प्रथम पूज्य हुए।
